Mundelein P.D Release Bodycam Footage of Officer-Involved Shooting

Lake County Major Crime Task Force Investigators are investigating an officer involved shooting that occurred in Mundelein. On May 11, 2026, at approximately 5:57 p.m., Mundelein Police Department officers responded to a residence in the 1100 block of Ashbrook Drive in Mundelein for a report of a suicidal female. The caller, a relative on scene, reported the female was suicidal and had stated she wanted the police to kill her. Upon arrival, officers learned that the female had exited the residence and was seated on the back patio. Officers attempted to gather information from the caller inside the residence when the female suddenly stood up and approached the rear sliding door armed with two large knives. The female started yelling and aggressively opened the sliding door and began to enter the residence. An officer inside the home discharged their firearm, striking the female. Officers immediately summoned paramedics, who had been staged nearby. The female was transported to an area hospital, where she was later pronounced deceased. The involved officer was also transported to an area hospital for evaluation. The Lake County Coroner’s Office responded, and an autopsy is being scheduled. In accordance with protocol and Illinois law, the Lake County Major Crime Task Force is conducting an independent investigation into the incident. End of Release
