Thin Blue Lenz Neutral Summary
Statement from Norwood Police Department: Last night the Norwood Police Department issued a Silver Alert for a missing 77-year-old resident who had walked away from the Ellis Rehabilitation Center. Cases involving elderly individuals, particularly those who may be suffering from cognitive impairment or other medical conditions, can have tragic outcomes. Fortunately, thanks to the swift response and coordinated efforts of our officers, METRO officers, supervisors, dispatchers, K9 teams, drone operators, mutual aid partners, and the assistance of the public, Mr. Mayo was located safely. I want to personally thank everyone who responded, searched, coordinated resources, and remained committed throughout the evening. The professionalism, teamwork, and dedication displayed by all involved are a reflection of the values of this department and our commitment to protecting the most vulnerable members of our community. I also want to thank the METRO search teams that came to Norwood to assist. These incidents remind us that every call matters and that our collective efforts can make a significant difference in someone's life. Last night's outcome was the result of outstanding police work and collaboration. The video below is shot from one of our drones that was donated by the Simoni foundation and shows the officers coming out of the woods with the lost senior. Thank you all for a job well done.
