Earlier today at approximately 9AM, TCSO was dispatch to assist firefighters with a car fire. The property in question was flagged as a caution due to prior violent criminal activity, prohibiting firefighters from responding alone. Upon arrival, a lone TCSO deputy gave an individual orders to step away from the fire which were ignored. The suspect then charged at the deputy before producing a firearm. The deputy shot the suspect numerous times. Once additional units arrived on scene, deputies and officers detained the suspect, removed a second firearm from him, and rendered medical aid by applying tourniquets. The suspect was transported to the hospital with injuries not believed to be life-threatening. No first responders or uninvolved persons were injured. The deputy has been placed on standard administrative leave. The Region 3 Critical Incident Investigation Team will be conducting an independent investigation.
