Toledo Police Officer Involved Shooting Regarding Man With A Gun Call

On March 29, 2026, Toledo Police officers responded to a weapons call in the 3800 block of Airport Highway involving a known male reportedly making threatening statements while armed with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers encountered the suspect, later identified as 33-year-old Michael Savage, who was armed with a handgun. During the encounter, an officer discharged their weapon, striking the suspect. The suspect was taken into custody at the scene, and the firearm was located and secured. The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment and sustained non-life-threatening injuries. No officers were injured during the incident. Michael Savage was charged with felonious assault. No officers were injured during the incident. The Toledo Police officer(s) who fired their weapons will be placed on paid Administrative Leave per collective bargaining agreements.
